Hi, my name is Mr Hares and I have the pleasure of being the class teacher of Dosbarth Castell Gwyn in Year 3.
I have been a teacher at George Street for a year and I have loved every minute of being here. I was very pleased to have joined George Street whilst being a Newly Qualified Teacher in January 2019. I have gained a lot of experience of teaching through different forms, firstly through my old employers where I would teach P.E but also gained a lot through my PGCE year at Bangor University where I was on two long term placements.
I feel that the primary phase of education is possibly the most important stage of any child’s educational journey, and giving every child the opportunity to excel in tomorrow’s world. I also feel that the concept of a school playing a central role in the community is massively important and so I ensure that I work closely with parents and families in order to facilitate a child’s full potential. My door is always open.
Apart from being the Class Teacher in Year 3, I currently run the KS2 girls Football and Rugby club, this club was designed to give girls the opportunity to play Football and Rugby, when they might have not felt confident/comfortable playing the boys in the school. I also run the Heddlu Bach (Mini Police) scheme, where 15 children from Year 6 help make improvements not only within school but also throughout the community through topics of their choice, e.g. littering, speeding and safety.
When I am not in school, I am a keen Rugby player and play for my local club, I am also /have been involved in many other sports e.g. Cricket, Football, Basketball and Squash. However, I also spend a lot of time coaching a girl’s rugby team in my local area in order to make the game accessible for all. Apart from keeping involved within Sport, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family (especially my niece and nephew.)
