I am Mr Taylor. I started working at George Street in January 2015. I first worked as a teacher in Year 3 and then made a journey to Foundation Phase to teach Year 1/2 for a year. I currently work as a Learning Support Assistant in Year 1 and as a cover supervisor, covering classes from Nursery to Year 6. I find this role gives me opportunity to work with all of the children in our wonderful school.
I enjoy teaching literacy and delivering Read Write Inc. intervention because it’s so rewarding to see the pride the children feel when they make fantastic progress with their reading. I am also heavily involved in teaching Welsh and have a passion for the outdoors. I was lucky enough, in summer 2016, to travel to LindingÖ in Sweden to observe teaching in a Skogsmülle preschool, where all learning takes place in a forest near the school building. I am hoping to set up Skogsmülle sessions in our school very soon with the help of ‘Mrs Jones the Forest’.
George Street is a wonderful school to work in because of its fantastic pupils and staff who work together tirelessly to make sure that we all reach our full potential and have fun doing it.
In my spare time I socialise with friends and can usually be found in Prezzo or Zizzi eating my favourite pizza and pasta dishes. I often go to the theatre to watch a play or a musical and love a trip to London for the weekend.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that as a staff, we have an open door policy and are all more than happy to chat to you at the end of the day; we also hold open sessions every Friday in Foundation Phase and it’s always lovely to see new faces.
