My name is Melissa Preston-Watkins and I am the PE and sport co-ordinator. I have worked at George Street since 2009 after a long career with Nationwide Building Society. I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of my job role and am privileged to work with such wonderful and talented children who love the wide range of different types of physical activity on offer to them. There is no better feeling than seeing the children smile, grow in confidence, achieve their potential and grow into team players.
I am also proud to serve on the school governing body as a staff representative. The role is extremely rewarding and it is an honour to work alongside such committed and passionate members who are responsible for working with the school to ensure delivery of high quality education, a clear vision and ethos and a caring and welcoming environment for all pupils. This is my 10th year as a governor and I look forward to continuing my work in the years ahead. I hope in some small way, I am able to steer our wonderful school positively through the challenges that lie ahead in the ever changing world of education.
When I am not at school, I am usually in a muddy field enjoying watching my young boys play football while my husband coaches. Being out in the fresh air enjoying the outdoors and travelling with my family is what I love to do the most in my spare time. I love to post pictures of the children in lessons and at tournaments on my school Twitter account and would love it if you followed me: @GeorgeStSport
