Hello/shwmae, I’m Mrs Herbert. I joined George Street Primary School in September 2019 with over 12 years of experience as a Teaching Assistant after leaving a long and successful career in banking. My educational experience has seen me work across all ages ranges, allowing me to build up a vast amount of knowledge, experience and skills.
At George Street Primary, I am working alongside Year 6 and I am both excited and enthused to be a part of this team and to add value to the children’s experiences through academic tasks and social/emotional support and development. I have a strong belief that our children are individuals and need to be listened to, respected and encouraged in what they do. I also enjoy helping our children develop their independence and resilience in our ever-changing world with a supportive and caring approach. There is no better feeling that witnessing the steps of improvement a child makes, no matter how big or small those steps are.
Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my lovely family. I have been married for 23 years and we have two amazing boys who keep us very busy with their interests and hobbies. I also have two dogs that can keep us laughing. When I can I love to travel as this allows me to practise my hobby of photography. My way of relaxing and unwinding is to read (although the school children find this strange) and to colour in my pictures of Harry Potter!
