Our school uniform policy is based on the notion that a school uniform promotes a sense of pride in the school, looks smart and is practical and makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance.
The George Street school uniform is a red sweatshirt, jumper or cardigan with the school logo on it where possible, worn with a white polo shirt and black trousers or skirts. Girls may wear red gingham dresses during the warmer summer months. Shorts may be worn in the summer. Plain black shoes or trainers must be worn, with no heels or platforms.
For PE the uniform is a blue T-shirt, black shorts or skort and a pair of trainers. For outdoor PE sessions pupils should also wear a pair of black tracksuit bottoms.
Children must wear their uniform to school at all times, also whilst on school trips or local visits. Children are at all times ambassadors for the school; the children should wear the uniform with pride, as it identifies them as pupils of George Street Primary. For sports events, pupils will be provided with the relevant kit depending on the team they are playing in.
Pupils with pierced ears may wear a single stud-earring or a pair of stud earrings to school. For safety reasons, children must not wear rings, bracelets or necklaces to school. Long hair is to be tied back. Make up and nail polish is not permitted.
