Hi! I’m Mrs Cowell. I am currently in my fourth year of teaching at George Street. In my first year, I taught a mixed Year 4/5 class and am now in my third year of teaching in Year 6. Preparing the children for their transition to secondary school is an absolute privilege and encouraging them to reach their full potential is truly satisfying. Making a difference to a child, watching them blossom and be the best they can be is what teaching is all about and after nearly 22 years this is still my priority. George Street feels like one big family and I am certainly proud to be part of it!
I have been part of the Senior Leadership Team for 3 years and thoroughly enjoy my role as Key Stage 2 Leader and leader of the Literacy team; coordinating Literacy across the curriculum. As well as this, I am a Senior Mentor and Mentor to University teaching students and Newly Qualified Teachers within our school and externally at schools across the consortia.
I am passionate about all aspects of my role, from teaching the children to supporting staff in their professional development.
Outside school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and my two teenage children. I love watching my son play rugby (even on the rainiest of days in the muddiest of fields!) and my daughter play netball (which thankfully is usually indoors!) I also have an 18 month old puppy called Floyd, who enjoys taking us for family walks! A visit to Costa for a Flat White and a lemon muffin always puts a smile on my face and keeps me sane!
My door is always open, so feel free to pop in for a chat. Please follow our class Twitter page: @HarlechGSPri
