Mrs K Morgan
Hi I'm Mrs Morgan and I have worked at George Street School since April 2015 joining with 7 years experience in Education. Prior to this, I worked for central government for 8 years.
My role as a HLTA varies throughout the school. I work closely with the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2 children delivering Read, Write Inc (RWInc). This phonics-based programme enables children to read quickly and easily. It also allows the children to create a strong handwriting style. Learning to read and write successfully is an important skill, which provides the foundations for the children to succeed throughout their school life. Many enjoy stopping me in the corridor to tell me the sound of the day and to show me how they used their sound knowledge when writing an exceptional piece of work. I am also the RWInc coordinator at George Street, which heavily involves assessing all children on this programme several times a year, tracking their progress and individual needs, and providing training for staff.
I thoroughly enjoy being the digital leader coordinator alongside Mr Bowen in year 5. We currently have 10 children from year 4-6 involved in this highly skilled team. This team of ICT specialists are the forefront of digital training in our school. We are frequently involved in training sessions with outside training companies to ensure we are utilising our abundance of ICT resources effectively. The digital leaders are then able to buddy with their peers and pass on their knowledge to the rest of the class. This process allows the children to become more confident with the digital world that we are now living in. We also had great success with creating our own apps to share our wonderful work with those at home. I am proud to have these children on board and embrace their eagerness to learn new digital skills. Their enthusiasm and professionalism is infectious. This is a great team to be part of!
As I am a keen user of ICT I have further responsibilities with the schools website. I am currently involved in ensuring our website provides you with the most up to date and engaging information. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to see additional information or would like to discuss permissions for your child to be included on our school website.
Alongside this, I am very excited to announce that I will be coordinating the launch of George Street Radio Station. We have been very fortunate and have recently purchased the most top of the range radio equipment to help develop and enhance oracy skills throughout our school. I will initially be working with all children in Key Stage 2 with the final goal that they will broadcast live to the entire school. We look forward to creating the next Radio One Presenter!
I also hold a seconded post with the Education Achievement Service (EAS) in which I am a Teaching Assistant Learning Pathway (TALP) coordinator. This role involves delivering training to many Teaching Assistants in South East Wales. It has been developed to promote the Learning Pathway that TA's are able to follow within their career in education. I am also looking forward to becoming a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Assessor. It is such a great opportunity to be involved with the entire process.
