Mrs K Morgan
Hi I'm Mrs Morgan and I have worked at George Street School since April 2015 joining with 7 years experience in Education. Prior to this I worked for central government for 8 years.
My role as a HLTA varies throughout the school. I work closely with the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2 children delivering Read, Write Inc sessions. This phonics programme enables children to read quickly and easily. It also allows the children to create a strong handwriting style. Learning to read and write successfully is an important skill which provides the foundations for the children to succeed throughout their school life. It is a joy to deliver these sessions to children who are so eager to learn. Many enjoy stopping me in the corridor to tell me the sound of the day and to show me how they used their sound knowledge when writing an exceptional piece of work. I am also heavily involved in assessing all children on this programme, tracking their progress and individual needs, providing training for staff and coordinating the programme closely with the Deputy Head.
I also deliver the numeracy intervention programme which supports children with a need for further development of their mathematical knowledge. This consists of working closely with the class teacher to establish individual needs. This small group intervention programme allows me to work at the pace of the children and to unpick the complexities of maths. I am constantly looking for different strategies to help the children reach that 'light bulb' moment and challenge them to ensure they are meeting my high expectations.
I throughly enjoy being the digital leader coordinator alongside Miss Davies in year 5. We currently have 15 children from year 4-6 involved in this highly skilled team. This team of ICT specialists are the forefront of digital training in our school. We are frequently involved in training sessions with outside training companies to ensure we are utilising our abundance of ICT resources effectively. The digital leaders are then able to buddy with their peers and pass on their knowledge to the rest of the class. This process allows the children to become more confident with the digital world that we are now living in. We have also had great success with creating our own apps to share our wonderful work with those at home. I am proud to have these children on board and embrace their eagerness to learn new digital skills. Their enthusiasm and professionalism is infectious. A great team to be part of!
As I am a keen user of ICT I have further responsibilities with the schools website. It has been an exciting 8 months of planning and preparation for our new website to 'go live'. I am currently involved in ensuring our website provides you with the most up to date and engaging information. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to see additional information or would like to discuss permissions for your child to be included on our school website.
