Hi, I am Mrs Lloyd! I have been working at George Street for five years. This year I am part of the communication team and I am very passionate about using ICT to develop and enhance the children’s learning in all areas. ICT is all around us and it is important that the children are equipped to use different devices correctly. It is also very important that we teach our children how to be safe when using the technology.
Throughout the last three years, our school has really embraced ICT and we are now really fortunate to say that all classrooms are equipped with laptops, iPads and Apple TVs which are being used effectively during sessions. We also have an ilounge in Key Stage 2, which is a great place for children to work collaboratively and independently on projects. In addition, each class in the Foundation Phase has their own green screen area where children can play and learn imaginatively. These really help and improve children's oracy skills throughout the school. We also select and train groups of children who are our Digital Leaders. These children are vital to the success of embedding ICT skills well and are able to help their peers and staff with any ICT issues.
I have recently been on student mentor training and am now able to mentor our student teachers, who we love having in school! I am really looking forward to supporting and guiding the next generation of teachers.
During my time at George Street I have had the opportunity of working in both KS1 and KS2. This year I am working in Year 1 and am very excited about working in the Foundation Phase for another year. I really enjoy encouraging our children build upon their skills and helping them to overcome any challenges on the way.
Every Tuesday after school, I run the Foundation Phase cookery club alongside my colleague Miss Jones, which is always full of interesting recipes. I always take the Foundation phase singing assembly on a Thursday afternoon which I really enjoy.
In my spare time I enjoy cycling and going on long walks with my husband and my three children. I have two family dogs that also enjoy our long walks.
